Rising for the second day in a row, the rupee gained 27 paise, to close at 55.37 against the dollar, after the Reserve Bank reportedly intervened in the foreign exchange market. In early trade, however, the rupee had fallen to 56.07, on dollar buying by importers, mainly oil refiners, to meet their month-end requirements.
