The Indian rupee appreciated by 18 paise to 45.29 rupees a dollar in early trade today. It had closed at 45.47 rupees against the greenback in the previous sessio. Dealers said dollar weakness against other Asian currencies and a higher opening on the stock exchanges kept the rupee sentiment firm.
