The rupee rose by 14 paise to 53 rupees 80 paise against the dollar in early trade today, on fresh selling of the US currency by exporters, amid sustained foreign capital inflows. The domestic currency had lost 13 paise to close at 53 rupees 94 paise against the foreign currency in the last session on Friday.
