The Indian rupee firmed up by 15 paise to 44.63 against the US dollar in early trade today. The local unit had opened higher at 44.65 per dollar. Dealers said, fresh selling of dollars by banks and corporate on the back of dollar weakness in global markets mainly boosted the rupee value against the dollar.
