Rupee falls by 59 paise against USD in early trade

The Indian rupee depreciated by 59 paise to 49 rupees 55 paise against the US dollar in early trade on Monday amid persistent dollar demand from banks and importers in view of dollar firmness in overseas markets. The rupee had lost 21 paise against the US currency on Thursday on fresh month-end dollar demand from importers. The forex market was closed on Friday on account of half-yearly closing of banks' accounts.
