The Indian rupee lost by 18 paise to 44. 63 per US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today. The Indian currency was weighed down by dollar's gains against the euro and other currencies overseas. The rupee fell by 12 paise to close at 44 rupees 46 paise against the US dollar in Monday's trade due to dollar demand and weak equity market.
