The rupee fell by 17 paise to 50 rupees 01 paise against the dollar in late morning trade today on fresh dollar demand from banks and importers, on the back of higher dollar in the overseas market. The domestic currency had gained 44 paise to close below the 50-mark at 49 rupees 84 paise against the US currency in the previous session.
