Rupee falls by 15 paise against US dollar

The Indian rupee fell by 15 paise to 44 rupees 87 paise against the US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today. This follows dollar gains against other currencies overseas and a weak trend in the equity market.Forex dealers said dollar strength against the euro andother Asian currencies and a lower opening in the stock market mainly put pressure on the rupee.The rupee closed stable at 44 rupees 73 paise against the US currency in the previous session on Friday on alternate bouts of buying and selling.
