The Indian rupee shed 13 paise to Rs 44.35 against the US dollar in early trade. The rupee had closed 21 paise higher at Rs 44.22 against the dollar in Friday's trade. Forex dealers said weakness in major currencies against the dollar overseas mainly put pressure on the rupee sentiment.
