The Indian rupee depreciated by 43 paise to 45.40 rupees against the American currency in early trade today. The local currency hovered in a range between 45.18 rupees and 45.40 per dollar during morning deals. The rupee had closed down by 23 paise at a nearly six-week low of Rs 44.98 against the US dollar in yesterday's trade.
