The Indian rupee was down by 30 paise at Rs 49.48 per US dollar in early trade on Thursday. This follows fresh demand for the American currency from banks and importers amid a stronger dollar in overseas markets.The rupee had strengthened by 8 paise to close at 49 rupees 19 paise against the US dollar in the previous session on late dollar-selling by exporters.
