The Indian rupee depreciated by 17 paise to 46.16 rupees per US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Thursday. It had closed at 45.99 rupees against the greenback in the previous session on Wednesday.Dealers said month-end dollar demand from importers and weakness of the euro and other Asian currencies overseas mainly caused the weakening of the rupee.
