Declining for the fourth day in a row, the rupee depreciated by 16 paise to 52 rupees 88 paise against the dollar in early trade today, weighed down by dollar's gains overseas. In the previous session, the domestic unit had ended down by 8 paise at 52 rupees 72 paise per dollar.
