The rupee was down 10 paise at 55 rupee 90 paise against US dollar , failing to maintain its initial gains, following the fresh demand for the American currency from banks and its firming in the overseas market.The rupee had resumed higher at 55 rupee 75 paise per dollar in its opening session.
