The Indian rupee depreciated by 13 paise to 44.23 rupees a dollar in the early trade today. In the previous session, the domestic unit had closed flat at a25-month high of 44.10 a dollar. Dealers said dollar's gain against other Asian currencies and weak opening on the stock markets weighed heavily on the Indian Currency.
