In the forex market, the rupee depreciated 11 paise against the US dollar. The domestic unit closed at 75 rupees and 87 paise against the US currency.

The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies rose 0.22 percent to trade at 96.10 in intra-day trade.
