The Indian rupee appreciated by 39 paise to 46.59 a dollar in early trade today. The domestic currency had closed 18 paise higher at 46.98/99 in yesterday's session. Forex dealers said the rupee strengthened against the US currency largely because of increased capital inflows by foreign funds into equities and dollar's weakness against other Asian units.
