In the Forex market, the rupee today appreciated marginally by one paisa against the US dollar, to close at 81 rupees and 83 paise against the US currency.
 
The dollar index, which indicates the US currency's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, rose 0.48 percent to trade at 101.99 in intra-day trade.
