The Indian rupee appreciated by 27 paise to 46 Rupees 95 paise against the US dollar in early trade today on fresh selling of the American currency by banks and exporters amid a firming trend in the equity market. On Monday, the local currency had tumbled 66 paise to close at nearly a 14-month low of 47 Rupees 22 paise against the international currency.
