The rupee appreciated by 24 paise to 48.83 rupees against dollar in the late morning trade today. The rise was attributed to persistent selling of dollars by banks and exporters, in view of sustained foreign capital inflows, amidst weakness of dollar in overseas market. The domestic currency had closed 15 paise higher at 49.08 rupees per dollar yesterday.
