In the by-elections to four Lok Sabha and eight Assembly Constituencies spread across six states and one Union Territory, ruling party candidates have won.<br/><br/>In West Bengal, Trinamool Congress candidates have swept the two Lok Sabha constituencies and one assembly seat. In Cooch Behar Lok Sabha seat, Partha Pratim Rai of TMC defeated BJP rival Hem Chandra Burman by over 4 lakh votes. In Tamluk Lok Sabha constituency, TMC candidate Dibyendu Adhikari has won by a margin of over 4 lakh 97 thousand over his CPM rival Mandira Panda. In Monteswar assembly seat, TMC candidate Saikat Panja has won over his nearest CPM rival Osman Gani Sarkar with a margin of over 1, 27,000 votes.<br/><br/>In Assam, the BJP has won the Lakhimpur Loksabha and Baithalangso assembly seats in the by polls.Party's candidate Pradan Baruah has defeated his nearest Congress rival by over 1 lakh 90 thousand votes.On the other hand , Mansing Rongpi defeated his nearest Congress candidate by over 16 thousand votes. There were five candidates in the fray at Lakhimpur seat while three candidates were vying for the Baithalangso seat.<br/><br/>In Madhya Pradesh, ruling BJP candidate and state minister Gyan singh has won the seat. He defeated his nearest rival congress candidate Ms Himadri Dalbir Singh. Similarly, in the Nepanagar assembly constituency, BJP candidate Manju Rajendra Dadu has won defeating his rival Congress candidate Antar Singh Barde.<br/><br/>In Arunachal Pradesh, BJP has won the Hayuliang Legislative Constituency by-election. The North East Democratic Alliance candidate Dasanglu Pul, the youngest among the three wives of former Chief Minister late Kalikho Pul, contested the election on a BJP ticket. Mrs. Pul has won by a margin of 942 votes.<br/><br/>In Tripura, ruling CPI(M) led Left Front won both the assembly constituencies, Barjala and Khowai bye elections. CPI(M) snatched Barjala seat from Congress. Interestingly, BJP also performed well by advancing its position to the 2nd, compared to 2013 assembly polls.<br/><br/>In Puducherry, Chief minister V Narayanasamy has won the Nellithoppe by-poll. In a fiercely contested by-poll, he won the seat by a margin of over one lakh eleven thousand votes. He defeated his neares rival, two-time MLA and AIADMK leader Om Sakthi Sekar.<br/><br/>In Tamil Nadu, ruling AIADMK has won in Thanjavur, Aravakurichi and Tiruparakundram Assembly elections . Ruling AIADMK has increased its tally to 136 in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly. AIR correspondent reports AIADMK party is celebrating the victory of its candidates in all the three Assembly constituencies.<br/><br/>Party cadre shared sweets, burst crackers and danced in the streets of Tanjore, Madurai , Trichy and Karur. AIADMK candidate M Rengasamy has won the election in Thanjavur, former AIADMK Minister, V Senthil Balaji in Aravakurichi and AIADMK's A K Bose won in Tiruparakundram. In all the three constituencies, main opposition DMK has come second and BJP secured third place.<br/><br/>The Assembly elections in Thanjavur and Aravakurichi supposed to be held on May 16 got postponed after huge seizure of naccounted money by EC flying squads. The bypoll in Tiruparankundram was conducted as AIADMK candidate Seenivel died soon after winning the Assembly election.
