In Bihar, the implementation of Right to Public Services Act, RTPSA, is evoking huge response with more than 12 lakh people demanding services of their choices. The Act was enacted on the occasion of Independence Day this year and in less than 25 days, people across the State are using the newly found power. The RTPS Act ensures timely disposal of work. Time-frame of three to sixty days have been fixed for disposal of different public services. AIR Patna Correspondent reports that three lakhs people of the State have been provided different public services so far. One lakh 30 thousand people have got residential certificates for which they had to run from pillar to post earlier. On the other hand, over one lakh people received caste and income certificates from the concerned offices. Over 70 thousand people were also benefitted by the RTPS Act. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has appealed to the applicants under RTPS Act to go the office only on the last day of the deadline to collect certificates otherwise the officials will take to be in dire need of the document and try to fleece money for the work. Mr. Kumar said, after six months, the government will work to minimise response time under the RTPS Act.
