RTI should be used first & foremost to better process of governance: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said Right to Information (RTI) should be used first and foremost to better the process of governance. Speaking on the 10th Central Information Commission annual convention in New Delhi, Mr Modi said everyone should have the right to know and right to question. He said these rights will increase faith in democracy. Mr Modi said when things go online, transparency increases. He said the more governance is open, the more people feel strengthened. <br/> <br/>Stating that the aim of RTI is to bring positive changes in governance, Mr Modi said a debate should be encouraged to ascertain how RTIs can be used to develop the process of good governance. He said the present government carried out every auction online. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Finance minister Arun Jaitley said RTI is an exemplary law. He said a society which relished in secrecy is now transforming to an open society. He expressed hope that the Act will continue to mature and useful in the service of people.
