RTI Amendment Bill introduced in Lok Sabha

<span style="color: #222222;">The Right to Information (Amendment) Bill 2019 was introduced in Lok Sabha today. Introducing the bill, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said that the amendment will institutionalize, streamline and improve ease of delivery of Right to Information Act. He refuted apprehension of opposition members that the amendments will dilute the Act. <br />''<br />''The amendment, he pointed out will authorize the Government to frame rules under the Act. He charged that the rules were defective when the Act was passed earlier and this Government is streamlining them now. <br />''<br />''Upon insistence from Asaduddin Owaisi, the introduction of the bill was put for a vote and the House allowed the introduction with 224 members in favour and nine against it. The Congress abstained from voting. <br />''<br />''Earlier in the day the Banning of unregulated Deposit Bill 2019, the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights Bill 2019 and the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Bill 2019 were also introduced in the Lok Sabha today.</span><br />
