Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari has said that Right to Information Act is a powerful tool which strengthens the democracy and promotes good governance. It enhances the citizens' ability to participate in the process of governance. Addressing a program in Lucknow he said that RTI Act of India is one of the finest acts of the world as it poses minimal hindrance to get an information by any seeker. <br/><br/>The Vice President also expressed concern over growing incidents of intimidation, threat and physical attacks against the information seekers. Mr. Ansari praised Uttar Pradesh government for taking a positive step as it has asked it's DMs and police chiefs to provide protection to Information seekers. He inaugurated the newly constructed building of UP Information Commission. On this occasion state governor Ram Naik and CM Akhilesh Yadav also expressed their opinions.
