BSP is sensing conspiracy into the remarks by RSS disapproving of reservation demands by the affluent sections and favouring a study to ascertain whether the deserving backward classes are actually getting the quota benefits. Talking to reporters outside Parliament today, party Chief Mayawati said the RSS and affiliated organizations have been demanding reservation on economic basis which is unconstitutional. She alleged that the recent comments are an attempt to abolish the quota. She also said that the SC, ST and OBC communities will not allow this to happen.

Yesterday, addressing media at Nagaur in Rajasthan, RSS General Secretary Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi had said the provisions of reservation made by Bhimrao Ambedkar were for social justice and that concept should be kept in mind by those demanding reservation today. He also said members of the Hindu community are responsible for caste-based discrimination in the country.
