Cutting across party lines; members in the Rajya Sabha today strongly condemned the Pakistan Parliament passing a resolution condemning the execution of Indian Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
Raising the matter soon after the House met for the day, Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley said this marks interference in the internal affairs of India. He said the resolution confirms New Delhi's worst fears that the Parliament attack conspiracy was hatched across the border.
Saying that the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has been magnanimous in normalizing the relations with Islamabad, Mr Jaitley said New Delhi should forget the dialogue process with the neighbour.
Responding to the concerns of the members, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Rajiv Shukla said the government is ready for a discussion on New Delhi's foreign policy.
Earlier, the House strongly condemned the deadly attack on a paramilitary camp in Srinagar killing five CRPF personnel on Wednesday. Making a reference to the attack, Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari said the attack on security personnel is deplorable and deserves to be condemned in the strongest terms.
