The Rajya Sabha today referred the Constitution (Amendment) Bill to set up a National Commission for Backward Classes to its select committee. The Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha yesterday. <br/><br/>The Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot said the OBC Commission needs to be set up without delay for which it is necessary that bill is passed in the House immediately. The Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said the bill cannot be taken for discussion today as prior notice has not been given and the opposition wants it to be referred to select committee. The committee has been asked to submit its report by last day of first week of next session.
