The Rajya Sabha today passed the Motor Vehicles amendment Bill 2007. The Bill was moved by the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Dr. C P Joshi, further to amend the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. He assured the House that some of the recommendations of the Standing Committee were incorporated in the Bill and a comprehensive Bill will be brought to the House after the comments received on Sunder Committee from the States. Dr. Joshi told the House that 78 per cent accidents occur due to driving in intoxicated condition.
