The Congress-led Opposition members in the Rajya Sabha today took serious exception to a woman minister for reportedly using derogatory language against them. The issue was raised by Congress members during the Zero Hour. Anand Sharma of Congress said it was not expected of a minister to use such foul language. He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should come to Parliament saying that he is always out of Delhi on visits. Sitaram Yechuri of the CPIM told BJP benches to forget bringing black money back to the country but bring Mr Modi to Parliament. Ram Gopal Yadav of Samajwadi Party said Prime Minister should apologies for this. BSP chief Mayawati said the minister should be sacked as her remarks are against the secular character of the Constitution.
Responding to this Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said decency of the language should be maintained by the members on both sides. Amidst noisy scenes, Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien adjourned the House first for ten minutes. After the House re-assembled, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Minister of State for Food Processing regretted for her remarks. But the Opposition demanded her resignation as they described the act as a cognizable offence. Later the House was adjourned till noon.
