The Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice till noon following uproar with the opposition Congress members demanding a statement on the alleged meeting of an Indian journalist, Ved Praksah Vaidik with the leader of a Pakistan-based terror outfit.
Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has said the government is nothing to do with the meeting, directly or indirectly.
Referring to the reported meeting of the journalist with Hafiz Saeed, leader of Jamat-ul-duva, the Minister also said he is a terrorist not only for India but also for the entire world.
The Congress members including Anand Sharma continued to insist on the statement saying the matter is related to the security concerns of the country. Amidst noisy scenes, Chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari adjourned the house first for 15 minutes and then till noon.
Earlier, some Congress members from Telangana displayed placards protesting the merger of few villages from their state with Andhra Pradesh.
