The Rajya Sabha has condoled the death of 250 people in the two powerful earthquakes in Iran on Saturday. Making a reference in the House today, the Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari said, the earthquake which hit several towns had caused extensive damage to houses, property and infrastructure besides destroying several villages. He said, the people of India stand in solidarity with the people of Iran in their hour of grief. Later, members observed silence for a while as a mark of respect to the memory of those who were killed in the natural calamity.
