Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today alleged that the government is not in favour of bringing the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill in Parliament. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Naqvi criticised the motion seeking extension of the time limit for presenting the report of the Select Committee on the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill, 2011.
Prof Ram Gopal Yadav of Samajwadi Party, who is also a member of the Rajya Sabha Select Committee on Lokpall and Lokayuktas Bill, told reporters outside Parliament that he sought extension of time frame so that the draft bill can be examined thoroughly.
Our correspondent reports that the Lokpal Bill was referred to the 15-member select committee in May this year. The committee was expected to present its report on the first day of the last week of the current session. The Rajya Sabha has adopted a motion moved by Mr Yadav in this regard by voice vote amidst the opposition uproar over coal blocks allocations.
