The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till noon following uproar with the opposition members demanding a discussion over the Vaidik- Hafiz issue.
The Question Hour in the Upper House was disrupted over the issue for the second consecutive day today.
Demanding an immediate statement from the Government, the opposition including Congress, Left, JD (U) and Trinamool Congress asked the Government to arrest Vaidik who interviewed Hafiz Saeed, chief of a Terror-outfit, Jamat ul Dawa.
The opposition members raised the issue soon after the house met for the day. Chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari adjourned the house initially for 15 minutes and later till noon when his repeated appeals to take up the Question Hour went unheeded.
Earlier, talking to reporters outside Parliament, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said the opposition parties are making ruckus over Vaidik-Hafiz meeting and unnecessarily disrupting the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha.
He said neither the Government nor the BJP has authorised Vaidik to visit Pakistan. Mr Naidu said the Government is ready for a detailed discussion over the issue.
