The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day today following the death of a sitting member, B B Tiwari of Samajwadi Party. The veteran SP leader and five time Member of Parliament died due to cardiac arrest. Mr. Tiwari took oath as a member in the House yesterday.
Making an obituary reference in the House, Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari recalled that an agriculturist, an advocate and a social worker, Tiwari actively participated in social, cultural and literary activities during his student days, and worked for uplift and welfare of downtrodden sections.
The Chairman said, Mr. Tiwari started his legislative career as a member of the sixth Lok Sabha in 1977. He was also member of the Ninth and Eleventh Lok Sabha. Mr. Tiwari was a Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh from December 2006 to July 2010, and again from the 3rd April 2012 till his sad demise today.
