The Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice before adjourning finally for the day. The first adjournment came in the middle of the question hour. BSP leader Mayawati complained that the House is subjected to frequent disruptions. She said the House has been adjourning every day at Noon in the last few days.
She wanted the Chair to take steps to ensure a normal functioning of the House. Ms Mayawati rushed to the well along with her party colleagues to register her protest.
Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari observed that the House can function only with the cooperation of all members and asked Ms Mayawati to go back to her seat. As the noisy scenes continued, the Chairman adjourned the House till noon.
At 12 when the House reassembled, BSP members again rushed to the well of the House shouting slogans. The deputy chairman Dr P J Kurien adjourned the House till 12.30. At 12.30 also the scene was no different. Dr Kurien adjourned the House for the day.
The Lok Sabha, adjourned first for fifteen minutes during the Question Hour after the BSP members rushed to the well demanding the disclosure of names of those who were involved in the allocation of coal blocks.
Amidst the uproar, Speaker Meira Kumar abruptly adjourned the House till Noon. Later, the BSP members stalled the proceedings. When the House met for the Zero Hour as they trooped into the Well. Their continuous slogan shouting forced the Chair to adjourn the House till 2PM.
As soon as Lok Sabha reassembled at 2 p.m, the Speaker adjourned the House till 3 p.m. BSP members continued their protest forcing the Chair to adjourn the House till 3 p.m.
