Rs 90 cr narcotic seized in Punjab

In Punjab, in a major breakthrough on the first day of the New Year, the Counter- Intelligence staff seized narcotics worth more than Rs 90 crore in the international market from three persons from two different locations in Jalandhar Distt. According AIG, Counter Intelligence, Mr. Opinderjit Singh Ghuman, acting on a tip-off they have recovered 18 kg of Methamphetamine (synthetic drug) along with arms and ammunition from the trio. Two four wheelers bearing Delhi and Haryana numbers have also been seized from their possession.Quoting Mr. Ghuman, our Jalandhar Correspondent Rajesh Bali reports that after preliminary investigation it had been discovered that the consignment was to be sent to a Canada based narcotic smuggler. A kilogramme of Methamphetamine is priced at approximately Rs 5 crore in the international market, making it an extremely expensive narcotic.A case under various Sections of the NDPS and Arms Act has been registered againstthem.
