Rs 820 being spent for up gradation of power facilities in J&K

In Jammu and Kashmir, over 820 crore rupees is being spent for up gradation of power facilities under the centrally sponsored Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidhyutikaran Yojana. This was stated by J&K Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan while inaugurating 6.3 MVA Receiving Station at Ratnuchak in Samba district today which has been completed at a cost of 1.5 crore rupees under Accelerated Power and Development Reform Programme. The Minister said that under the scheme all un-electrified villages and hamlets of the State are being provided electricity facility. He said that so far over 500 crore rupees have been spent covering 350 villages and hamlets while more than 26000 Below Poverty Line households have been provided free of cost electric connections under the Scheme. The Minister further stated that in twin districts of Samba and Jammu, an amount of 35 crore rupees is being spent for development of power infrastructure under RGGVY adding that so far 21 crore rupees have been spent on laying 418 kilometers of high and low transmission lines, besides, installing 624 new transformers and providing power connections to 6,314 Below Poverty Line households.
