Rs 8.5-cr grant for food-hit farmers in Haryana

<br/>Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has announced setting up of a Rs 8.5-crore package for the farmers in the flood- affected areas to provide them relief and ensure re-sowing of the damaged agricultural fields.<br/><br/>It may be recalled that recent floods has damaged around 2 lakh 85 thousand hectares of crops in Sirsa, Fatehabad, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and some parts of Karnal district.<br/><br/>A spokesman of the Agriculture Department said at Chandigarh today that free and subsidised seeds of different crops will be supplied to the farmers under this package and it also include additional supplies of ferstilisers to the farmers. The state government has decided to supply free of cost mini kits with seeds of alternate crops like toria, hybrid bajra and jowar in the affected areas.
