The 700 crore rupee annual plan for the North East Council for 2010 -11 has been approved. Minister for Department of North Eastern Region and Chairman of North East Council B. K. Handique said the decisions were taken in the 59th meeting of Council yesterday. He said that NEC is in touch with Assam Rifles to facilitate admission of violence affected and poor students of the North East States in the Assam Rifles Public School, Shillong. The Minister also revealed that to further process of Look East Policy, the Ministry has arranged the visit of 8 ASEAN Ambassadors to Manipur. To give impetus to the sports talent of the region Handique said that the 2nd Dr. T Ao Regional Football Tournament will be held in Manipur in November. First Tournament was held in Nagaland last year.
