So far over 519 crore rupees has been paid to the victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy in 1984. The Welfare Commissioner will pay more compensation depending on the demands from the victims. The total ex-gratia amount allocated is rupees 740 crore. The Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mr. Srikant Jena, gave this information in the Lok Sabha today.Answering supplementaries, he said the US government has been sent a complete dossier on the main culprit behind the disaster with a request to extradite him.He added, the waste disposal will be done only after the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, which has been entrusted with the job, takes a decision.
