The Prime Minister’s council on Climate Change has approved 46,000 crore rupees programme to increase forest cover in the country. The programme known as Green India Mission is aimed at increase in the forest cover by 5 million hectares over next ten years. The programme will be executed by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. AIR correspondent adds that Green India is one of the eight missions to address the issue of climate change in the country. Seven other missions have already been implemented.
