Union Forest and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar today said the Centre has earmarked 4,000 crore rupees for resolution of the man-animal conflict in Assam, where 3 persons were killed and over 15 injured by elephants in Jorhat district alone in the past 3 days. At a programme in the Rain Forest Research Institute (RRFI) near Jorhat Javadekar said he has asked for a detailed report on the marauding jumbos that have been creating havoc in the districts of Jorhat, Sivasagar and Lakhimpur.<br/><br/>Javadekar said responding to queries on the deaths caused by elephants that as soon as the report from the Assam Government reaches the Forest Ministry at the Centre, his ministry would release 4,000 crore rupees. He also urged the local MPs to submit a detailed report on the situation by next week. Javadkar took part in a plantation ceremony in Jorhat and inaugurated exhibition stalls of RFRI.
