Centre has released grant in aid worth of 270 crore rupess to the states of Tamil Nadu and Assam for construction of rural roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).According to the Ministry of Rural Development, out of this, 140 crore rupees were released for Tamil Nadu while 130 crore rupees for Assam.PMGSY is a hundred per cent centrally sponsored scheme which provides road connectivity in the rural areas of the country.
