The Planning Commission has placed a budget of 250 crore rupees for the Revised Long Term Action Plan (RLTAP)being implemented in Koraput-Bolangir-Koraput (KBK) region for 2010-11. <br/><br/>It has almost doubled its budget for the same compared to 2009-10 which was 130 crore rupees. The commission's proposal will be sent to Cabinet for approal. <br/><br/>According to special secretary, Planning & Coordination Department, Government of Orissa, Dr R.V. Singh said the planning commission is yet to approve state government’s 4550 crore rupee perspective plan for the development of the eight KBK districts for 8 years starting from 2009-10 to 2016-17.<br/><br/>Chief Minister Mr Naveen Patnaik has earlier demanded from Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to double the KBK grant. <br/><br/>Minister for Planning & Coordination, Mr A U Singh Deo, had met Member of Planning Commission, Prof Abhijit Sen and requested him to increase the KBK region grant to at least 250 crore rupees annually.<br/><br/>The increasing in annual allocation of the KBK region is expected to go a long way in funding various special projects in this most backward region of the country.
