The Election Commission has seized 240 crore rupees in cash and huge quantities of liquor and drugs during the on going Lok Sabha polls so far.

According to the latest data released by the Commission today, 102 crore rupees in cash have been seized in Andhra Pradesh, 39 crore rupees in Tamil Nadu and 20.53 crore rupees in Karnataka.

The poll body said sleuths of various agencies have also seized 1.32 crore litres of illicit liquor besides 104 kilograms of heroin.

The Commission has deployed officers from central revenue services like the Income Tax and Customs and Excise departments in all Lok Sabha and state Assembly constituencies going to pllos to curb the use of black money and illegal funds in elections.
