The Government has announced 20 thousand rupees annual bonus for each Coal India worker. With this announcement, the contentious issue related to the higher bonus for workers has been resolved. Earlier Coal India had offered 17 thousand rupees annual bonus for workers but it was not accepted. A decision to this effect was taken by Coal Minister Shriprakah Jaiswal after holding meeting with various trade union leaders in New Delhi today. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Mr. Jaiswal said that apart from this, the contract workers working in various units of Coal India will also get 1000 rupees Diwali gift. Our correspondent reports that earlier Coal India workers had gone on a one day strike to press for their demands for higher bonus. Union leaders have hailed the decision of the government .
