In Uttar Pradesh, more than 14 crore rupees allegedly meant for election purposes, have been seized till now by the surveillance teams deployed to check misuse of money power to influence election process.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that more than 4 crore rupees has been seized on Monday in Ghaziabad , Lucknow , Kanpur , Lakhimpur Kheri, Mathura , Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar and Prabuddha Nagar districts.Enforcement agencies have also recovered more than one lakh litres of illegal and country liquor from different districts. Several persons have also been arrested in this regard. Teams of officials have been deployed to check transportation of liquor from neighbouring states.He said that several illegal factories for preparation of country liquor have been unearthed in many districts. He said that state Excise department and police have launched joint drive against illegal transportation and production of liquor across the state.The Chief Electoral Officer of the state told media persons this evening that in view of the model code of conduct, directions have been issued for removing display of photos of leaders from government owned web sites.Assembly elections process in the state now begins from 12th of this month with the notification for elections in the 55 constituencies spread over 10 districts of Sitapur, Baharaich, Shrawasti, Barabanki, Gonda, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Faizabad, Basti and Ambedkar Nagar. Polling will be held in these constituencies on the 8th of next month.The Election Commission has directed the concerned District Election Officer to submit a report on covering of each and every statue of elephant and BSP supremo Mayawati, built in the state with public money, in public places by the 11th of this month.The Commission has said that the expense for covering the statues, will be borne by the local authorities under whose jurisdiction the various statues have been erected.
