Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan has informed that government has saved Rs. 10,000 crore through weeding out bogus ration cards.Speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Friday, Mr. Paswan said his ministry has detected 1.62 crore bogus ration cards.He attributed this success to the linking of ration cards with Aadhar numbers. Paswan assured that the remaining of bogus ration cards, most of them being in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh will be unearthed soon.The minister has also announced that celebrities who endorse brands will be held accountable for misleading claims under the new Consumer Protection Act.Mr. Paswan said the act will be moved in the monsoon session of Parliament.
