RPF warns its jawans not to consume water from wells & ponds in Jharkhand

The Railway Protection Force ,RPF, jawans sent to poll-bound Jharkhand for tackling Naxal activities have been asked not to consume water from wells and ponds as it could be laced with poison. RPF sources said in New Delhi that there is specific intelligence inputs, that water bodies might be poisoned by the ultras to cause harm to the para-military forces.<br/>About 40 companies of Railway Protection Force and Railway Special Protection Force personnel have been deployed for checking Naxal activities in Jharkhand which goes to polls later this month and next month. Sources said these were the new tactics being adopted by the left-wing extremists to scuttle efforts for peaceful conduct of elections. The Naxalites have threatened people not to exercise their franchise. About 25,000 para-military personnel will be deployed for the five-phase Assembly elections in Jharkhand. <br/>
